Spanish for Adult Learners

Native from Argentina 🇦🇷 🇵🇾
My name is Carlos Francia and I am a language enthusiast from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I also lived in Asunción, Paraguay for 10 years.

College 🎓
In 2011, I moved to the US and I later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics at Rutgers University, New Jersey.

Experience 📚
I’ve been teaching both Spanish and English since 2000. Most of my experience comes from my journey as an English language learner and from years of helping adults with their language goals.

Teaching Style 👨🏻‍🏫
I like to strike a balance between accuracy (grammar, pronunciation) and fluency (being functional to express oneself and understand others).

I believe that massive exposure to the target language (with comprehensible input) and guided output (speaking, writing) are essential skills for language proficiency.

Language lessons should mostly be student-centered where the teacher acts as a facilitator and as a reliable source of feedback.

What am I like? 🙋🏻‍♂️
I am an extrovert with a sense of humor! I am direct, meticulous and thorough. I enjoy discussing things deeply, especially sociolinguistics, which is the study of how culture shapes the way we speak.

Hobbies 🎙
I am a singer, I play guitar and percussion. I love playing pickleball and I watch even more videos of it than I play 😬
